入选100位在现代西方流行音乐史最伟大吉他手功勋人物。来自德州的Lightnin’ Hopkins是个走唱歌手。他跟弹月琴的陈达一样，拥有吟游诗人的天赋，能在固定的曲式中即兴发展歌词、让每次唱的内容都不尽相同。他的手劲惊人、节拍准确繁复，尽管只是一柄木吉他，却能听出不少影响摇滚乐的渊源。Lightnin’ Hopkins早在四Ｏ年代就录过许多受欢迎的唱片，五Ｏ年代蓝调市场走下坡，他一度回到街头卖唱，直到1959年才被重新找回录音间。六Ｏ年代开始他在许多校园演唱会跟音乐节现身，大受欢迎，其中一场在Swarthmore校园民谣音乐节的录音直到1993年才出土发行《Swarthmore Concert》专辑：在歌与歌之间，Lightnin’ Hopkins跟台下的年轻人天马行空地讲故事，有时几乎发展成另一种形式的即席创作，和精采万分的演唱弹奏相映成趣，相当值得一听。Lightnin’ Hopkins留下的作品非常多，而且因为版权的问题，一直都没有整理得比较完好的精选辑，让新入门的乐迷难以下手。《The Complete Aladdin Recordings 》对无所适从的乐迷来说，至少是个比较容易的开始。 |
