After a healthy three-year break, the Backstreet Boys return with a new album “Never Gone.”
解散三年之后，后街男孩带着全新专辑《风云再起》回来了。
Every Chinese teenager knows the words to at least one: the debut (1) “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” the energetic “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” or the contagious (2) “I Want It That Way.” The Backstreet Boys’ pop songs are famous around the world.
无论是初次亮相之作《Quit Playing Games With My Heart》、动感十足的《Everybody》、还是极富感染力的《I Want It That Way》，相信每个中国青少年都至少听过其中的一首。后街男孩的歌曲享誉全球。
Everyone recognized BSB’s talents from the start. Their first two albums Backstreet Boys (1997) and Millennium (1999), sold over13 million copies each. Millennium was the number one album in 25 countries! The success continued with Black and Blue (2000) and Hits: Chapter One (2001). The group has had 12 top 40 hits, 8 of those reaching the top 10.

But the boys needed a break. After eight non-stop years of recording and touring and more than 73 million albums sold worldwide, the schedule was taking its toll (3). “We were almost living in a bubble; we had lost perspective (4) on a lot of things,” BSB member Kevin Richardson says. “You need to take care of yourself and rest and be able to reflect.”
不过男孩们需要休息一下。八年连续不停地录制唱片、开展巡演，专辑全球销量超过七千三百万张，排得满满当当的时间表出了问题。“我们就好像生活在气泡上一样，对于很多事情都失去了自己的观点，”组员凯文说道。“你得自己照料自己以及其他的事务，这样有所思考。”
So they went their separate ways. Brian Littrell started a family. Nick Carter put out a solo album. Howie Dorough continued his charity work (5). Kevin Richardson starred in a musical on Broadway and AJ McLean worked through some personal issues in rehab (6).

“This time off gave us a chance to recharge our batteries and step away and see what has happened in our lives, what we have accomplished and to be thankful for the opportunities that we have had and thankful for each other,” Kevin says.

But BSB couldn’t stop singing for long and Never Gone shows the revived (7) ideals of the rejuvenated (8) pop stars. The album’s 12 songs all have very personal lyrics, dealing with hope, loss, and love. The first single “Incomplete,” proves Backstreet Boys haven’t lost their touch (9).
但是后街男孩不会分开太久，再度出击之作《风云再起》体现出一如既往的完美水准。专辑中12首歌曲全部配合十分个人的歌词，围绕着希望、失落和爱。第一主打歌《Incomplete》显示出他们仍然保持原有的创作风格和实力。
The title track, “Never Gone,” is the most moving song on the album. Co-written by
BSB’s Kevin Richardson, the song pays tribute (10) to the death of Kevin’s father.
同名主打歌《Never Gone》是专辑中最感人的曲目。组员凯文参与了歌曲的创作，借此向自己去世的父亲致敬。
Stepping back into the studio after taking a break was difficult at first. But the boys soon found their new sound. “We started going more toward contemporary, alternative pop with a little R&B. We found exactly what we are supposed to be doing for this album. It’s more organic (11), with more live instruments, and a nice departure for us. If we kept on doing what we used to do-with the way music sounds today-people wouldn’t care anymore. We had to step ahead of ourselves.” AJ said.
休息了一段时间之后重新回到录音棚一开始并不容易，不过男孩们很快为自己找到了新嗓音。“我们开始加入一些节奏与布鲁斯，使之更符合当前的流行音乐。我们完全找到了新专辑所要体现的感觉。这张唱片更有质感、更多地运用了现场乐器，对我们来说是一个良好的开端。如果我们继续按照以前的方式做音乐，现在的人们不喜欢听了。我们必须自我突破，”AJ说道。
Brian agrees, “It was essential for us to grow. If we’re not getting better and challenging ourselves, what are we here for?”
布莱恩表示赞同：“我们确实需要不断成长。如果我们不能做得更好、不挑战自己，那么我们为什么要回来呢？”
Never Gone proves the Backstreet Boys are growing musically but still staying true to their timeless (12) style.

“We’re excited and we hope our fans are, too,” Kevin says. “We’re looking forward to a happy, prosperous year.”
