Depeche Mode之地位崇高，就算他们此刻不再位于流行尖端，也丝毫不受影响，因为除了音乐，他们的形像更标记着听者的时空归属，置身众家竞逐复古、Synth-Pop/Electro翻红的潮流中，Depeche Mode的先驱角色此刻便更加清楚。其中Dave Gahan作为Depeche Mode二十多年来的门面，他深具厄夜毁灭感的声音成为那不断冲刷的流行风潮里始终鲜明的景点，甚至启蒙了Nine Inch Nails与其后进Marilyn Manson之主唱形像。到2001年的专辑‘Exciter’，他带领着乐团再度挺过风雨，并仍保有全美十大的行情与实力。
而当年留下的名曲如"Enjoy The Silence"与"Policy Of Truth"等，让团中另一灵魂人物Martin L. Gore 于91年时获ASCAP(美国作曲家、作家与出版商协会)颁奖表扬；第44届英国Ivor Novello音乐典礼上，他又再次获颁国际成就奖，表彰他身为Depeche Mode主力创作者对全球乐迷的贡献。其实，除了这些丰功伟业，Depeche Mode向来也是各家混音DJ的最爱。2001年获颁美国Dance Star Awards终生成就奖的Danny Tenaglia于隔年祭出的大作正是Depeche Mode名曲“I Feel Love”新混音，不但令全球舞客尖叫连连，Dance Star Awards也再送上一座最佳混音奖，还顺势入围葛莱美。然而很多绝佳混音若不是多以黑胶流通便是区域限量发行，往往叫乐迷扼腕叹息，于是这套[Remixes 81-04]便显出其重要性。
